After Hours Assistance

If you have a concern outside of clinic hours, the following resources are available:

MyChart

For routine questions or concerns that do not require immediate attention, send a message to your provider through MyChart.

First Nurse

For urgent medical questions that cannot wait until the next business day, call First Nurse. Experienced registered nurses from central Iowa staff First Nurse and are available to provide you nursing information during evenings, weekends and holidays. First Nurse does not replace the care or advice of your own healthcare provider.

First Nurse does not replace 911. In a life-threatening emergency, always call 911.

Common reasons to call First Nurse include questions about side effects, concerns after a procedure, or other medical advice.

Please be prepared to:
  • give the name of your physician
  • give the medications you are taking
  • any health problems you may have or are experiencing

After evaluation, you will be referred to the appropriate level of care.

Please note that antibiotics and refill requests need to be filled by your physician's office during regular clinic hours.
